Stainless Steel Laminates image

Stainless steel, or inox steel, is a steel alloy with chromium content that resist corrosion.

The stainless steel backsplash is fabricated out of sheet metal or metal tiles. But it can also be costly, ranging from $20 per square foot up.

On the other hand, the metal laminate is an inexpensive alternative to metal. It is constructed similar to plastic laminate but the product is then covered with a metallic layer that has thousands of microscopic reflective facets per square inch, resulting in a three dimensional appearance. It is sold in sheets of different sizes and thicknesses. The installation of the metal laminate is the same as installing plastic laminate.

It would be the best that you don’t glue it to drywall. Instead, you can use a substrate such as plywood or particleboard that has at least one A-grade veneer face. That is because adhesives work best on a clean, dry surface with a uniform texture. It can be easily worked with using traditional woodworking/laminate tools.

Metal laminate flat sheets are light weight and flexible. They also have impact, stain and chemical resistant properties. They are easy to install, can be cut. Most of them have protective peel coat. Sometimes stainless steel veneer be ordered with pressure sensitive adhesive backing.

Stainless steel laminate (also known as stainless steel veneer or faux stainless steel) maintenance: use soft cloth and a mild household cleaner. Always rinse surfaces after cleaning to prevent damage of a laminate surface.
